Tumbleweeds To Welcome Las Vegas Skaters

Tumbleweed houses are about to make their public skating debuts, starting this weekend at the Gold Spike rink. Under the auspices of Tony Hsieh and the Downtown Project, the 4,000 square foot rink will open for the very first time. Tiny houses are set up around the rink!

The Vegas Chatter took a sneak peek at the rink's progress. As of two days ago, rink preparations were coming along nicely and the tiny houses, lounging areas and outdoor heaters seemed ready to go. Robin Leach, a Las Vegas Sun columnist, said the rink would be "one of the largest in Las Vegas" after speaking with directly with Hsieh.

The Gold Spike's skating rink will offer plastic rather than ice skating. Like other rinks in this warmer part of the world, skating takes place under palm trees and fulfills holiday dreams. Our houses will come in handy as places to rent and collect skates -- and as models to showcase house features and comforts.

During this year, the Downtown Project acquired new tiny houses from our company. We knew these houses-to-go would receive the royal treatment and get used for all kinds of educational, community and other interesting purposes. It's exciting that so many homes will come into full, public view.

Tumbleweed applauds this terrific opportunity for Las Vegas locals and visitors to see tiny houses in person, both inside and outside.  Get to Vegas soon!
