Last night during our #TinyHouseChat on Twitter, we had a lively discussion about composting toilets. There is still a lot of mystery and a little fear about the whole concept. I think some still equate composting toilets with the old outhouses of years gone by. Well, nothing can be farther from the current reality of composting. When done properly, it can be a viable solution for those who want to live off the grid and have the freedom that a tiny house affords. One good read on the subject is the Humanure Handbook.

We recommend the book and it is considered the ultimate authority on the subject. There are some modern versions of the composting toilet that are worthy of exploration.
