Our upcoming Miami Tiny House Workshop now has THREE guest speakers lined up, to make your tiny house workshop experience even more informational!
Alex Pino of TinyHouseTalk.com will discuss his involvement in the tiny house movement, upcoming projects, and excellent space saving advice.
Jo-Anne Peck, owner of HistoricShed.com that builds beautiful sheds and guest homes in the Florida area, will join us on Sunday to talk about Florida building codes. She will also share updates on her company's current projects and techniques in building.
L.A. Davis from www.MGNsolar.com will share his knowledge and expertise about solar energy and how his work and ideas compliment tiny houses and sustainable living.
I'll also introduce a few new segments to the Tumbleweed workshop format that include utilizing recycled and re-purposed materials in building your tiny home (check out my recent video on the topic), a showcase of a wild variety of tiny homes, shelters, and cabins, and some great ways to save THOUSANDS when building your own Tumbleweed tiny house.
As always, there is much more in during this 2-day event so take advantage of the $100 discount on the Miami workshop through Saturday, March 31st when the price goes back up to $399.
I'm also hosting a workshop in Boston if you're in the area. You can sign up for this one here.
With his unbridled enthusiam and quirky charm, Derek "Deek" Diedricksen is the latest tiny house pro to join the Tumbleweed Workshop line-up. Deek runs the popular Relaxshacks.com and has written a "Super-Caffeinated" book called Humble Homes & Simple Shacks. You can see the content of the book here.
Deek has a keen understanding of using and reusing recycled materials. Like the rest of our workshop crew, he is extremely knowledgeable and will be able to help you take the next step in your quest to build a tiny house of your own. We are happy to have him as one of our workshop instructors. You can get a sense of his kinetic style in the video below.
Deek will be hosting workshops in Miami & Boston this year, with a few more locations to be announced soon.
Back by popular demand, the Vardo is the easiest Tumbleweed to build. Designed to nest inside most truck beds, the Vardo can also be pulled on its own trailer. The material costs to build this structure are approximately $2,500 (not including the optional heater).
We think the Vardo is the perfect Tumbleweed for weekend warriors and building novices alike. Get your hands on these tiny house plans for only $19.95 when you use code vardo10 at checkout. This offer is good for 2 days only so act fast! Click here to get started.
This is a guest post from Derek "Deek" Diedricksen, our newest Tumbleweed Tiny House workshop host. This post originally appeared on Deek's blog.
Again, the Tumbleweed Tiny House Co's Workshop in Seattle was killer! "All Killer, No Filler"- and aside from being brought out there to guest speak for a Q&A session, I had four days/night to hang out with some really cool, likeminded, tiny house obsessed people. One of the people I met was Sharon Read from Seattletinyhomes.com, who is great, as is her home one wheels.Check out some of these photos I snapped during this workshop's field trip on day one.
While out in Seattle, I also shot FOUR episodes (with Christopher Smith from "Tiny: The Movie") of my show "Tiny Yellow House" at some CRAZY locales (built by some equally crazy people). I took a ton of photos as well- some of which I'm collecting for Book #2.
My book "Humble Homes, Simple Shacks" has done so well, the publisher is already asking for another. If you haven't checked it out, its $11.29 on Amazon or better yet, buy it off a local independent store. I'm hosting a few workshops for Tumbleweed coming up soon!
This XS-House was built as a community effort by The Andersons and Lathrop Group, two local Toledo companies as part of the museum's Small Worlds exhibit. The tiny house has been a popular piece in the exhibit and now it has gone to auction to benefit the museum's early childhood art education fund.
If you've been on the fence about purchasing a tiny house, here is your chance to own an exquisitely built XS-House that is also fully furnished and ready to move in! Hurry because the auction ends March 28th, 2012. Not only do you have a chance to own your very own tiny house but all proceeds go to a great cause.
