Our Tiny House workshops have become so in demand that we had no choice but to add more locations! This means that we needed to bring on another workshop presenter and we're happy to welcome Derek "Deek" Diedricksen to the Tumbleweed team! Deek will present primarily at our east coast workshops. Deek will host his very first Tumbleweed workshop inMiami coming up April 14-15. This workshop will sell out soon so please reserve your tickets now!
Deek is not a stranger to the tiny house movement and has been a fixture in the Small House Movement for the past 5 years. His enthusiasm and "rock and roll" style is unparalleled. Deek has gone dumpster diving to find materials to build houses for less than $1000. The word impossible just isn't part of his vocabulary. Deek is the author and artist of "Humble Homes, Simple Shacks, Cozy Cottages, Ramshackle Retreats, Funky Forts", and has been featured in the New York Times, PBS, NPR, ABC, and more.
Deek recently joined us at our Seattle workshop and our guests loved him! He will bring a wealth of information to our workshops attendees along and surely entertain them. Deek has a unique way of making people feel comfortable and confident in building tiny houses.
Everyone at ourMiami workshop is in for a real treat with Deek! And be sure to check back here next week for Deek's post about his adventures at our Seattle workshop!
Sign up to be informed and totally entertained at our Miami Workshop with Deek Dierdricksen, April 14 - 15.
The Toledo Museum of Art has included a Tumbleweed XS House in an exhibition called Small Worlds. Amy Gilman, curator at the museum is fascinated by the simplicity of life in a tiny home and was compelled to include one in the exhibition. She was able to bring together people in the Toledo community to make it happen.
The story behind the build of the XS tiny house was documented in a YouTube video which is a must see!
The XS is up for auction on eBay until April 7th. All proceeds will go to the museum's early childhood art education fund which serves over 60,000 preschool and school-aged children in Ohio and Michigan each year.
The team at Tumbleweed Tiny Houses is thrilled to be a part of the exhibition and contribute to the museum's art education fund through this unique auction event.

With our workshop schedule in full swing, we wanted to take the time to introduce you to our team of experts. First up, Dee Williams.
Dee holds a special place in our hearts over here at Tumbleweed HQ. Her enthusiastic support and dedication are unmatched. She is the first of our customers to build a Tumbleweed house from recycled materials. Take a look at the video below. Look at the craftsmanship of the house and keep these facts in mind: it's built from recycled materials and it only cost $10,000 to build. Impressive, aye?
Dee has shared her passion for building with many others, assisting them with their tiny house projects. During the workshop, she teaches people how to build a house and will talk about what it is like scavenging for recycled materials and living in just 84 square feet. Her first Seattle workshop is in just a few weeks. Her experience, dedication and construction skills really are an asset. As Dee says:
"Seven years ago my answer was to build a little house. I got rid of my mortgage; I got rid of most of my personal possessions and downsized myself into a little tiny house. One bedroom, four wheels, seven windows, 84 square feet of living space. It’s got everything I need. A place to cook, a place to pee, a place to hang out, a place to be Dee Williams."
In addition to the workshops, Dee is hosting an Open House at her Tumbleweed on Saturday, February 18th. See the details here. You can also get a copy of her informative pdf guidebook Go House Go at a special price of only $15.99.
