Tiny Houses in Seattle

This is a guest post from Derek "Deek" Diedricksen, our newest Tumbleweed Tiny House workshop host. This post originally appeared on Deek's blog.

Again, the Tumbleweed Tiny House Co's Workshop in Seattle was killer! "All Killer, No Filler"- and aside from being brought out there to guest speak for a Q&A session, I had four days/night to hang out with some really cool, likeminded, tiny house obsessed people. One of the people I met was Sharon Read from, who is great, as is her home one wheels.Check out some of these photos I snapped during this workshop's field trip on day one.

While out in Seattle, I also shot FOUR episodes (with Christopher Smith from "Tiny: The Movie") of my show "Tiny Yellow House" at some CRAZY locales (built by some equally crazy people). I took a ton of photos as well- some of which I'm collecting for Book #2.

My book "Humble Homes, Simple Shacks" has done so well, the publisher is already asking for another. If you haven't checked it out, its $11.29 on Amazon or better yet, buy it off a local independent store.  I'm hosting a few workshops for Tumbleweed coming up soon!

Derek "Deek" Diedricksen Joins the Tumbleweed Team!

Our Tiny House workshops have become so in demand that we had no choice but to add more locations! This means that we needed to bring on another workshop presenter and we're happy to welcome Derek "Deek" Diedricksen to the Tumbleweed team! Deek will present primarily at our east coast workshops. Deek will host his very first Tumbleweed workshop in Miami coming up April 14-15. This workshop will sell out soon so please reserve your tickets now!

Deek is not a stranger to the tiny house movement and has been a fixture in the Small House Movement for the past 5 years. His enthusiasm and "rock and roll" style is unparalleled. Deek has gone dumpster diving to find materials to build houses for less than $1000. The word impossible just isn't part of his vocabulary. Deek is the author and artist of "Humble Homes, Simple Shacks, Cozy Cottages, Ramshackle Retreats, Funky Forts", and has been featured in the New York Times, PBS, NPR, ABC, and more.

Deek recently joined us at our Seattle workshop and our guests loved him! He will bring a wealth of information to our workshops attendees along and surely entertain them. Deek has a unique way of making people feel comfortable and confident in building tiny houses.

Everyone at our Miami workshop is in for a real treat with Deek! And be sure to check back here next week for Deek's post about his adventures at our Seattle workshop!

Sign up to be informed and totally entertained at our Miami Workshop with Deek Dierdricksen, April 14 - 15.

World's Smallest House Goes To Auction on eBay!

The Toledo Museum of Art has included a Tumbleweed XS House in an exhibition called Small Worlds. Amy Gilman, curator at the museum is fascinated by the simplicity of life in a tiny home and was compelled to include one in the exhibition. She was able to bring together people in the Toledo community to make it happen.

The story behind the build of the XS tiny house was documented in a YouTube video which is a must see!

The XS is up for auction on eBay until April 7th. All proceeds will go to the museum's early childhood art education fund which serves over 60,000 preschool and school-aged children in Ohio and Michigan each year.

The team at Tumbleweed Tiny Houses is thrilled to be a part of the exhibition and contribute to the museum's art education fund through this unique auction event.

**To build your own XS-House, we have a special deal until the end of March. Get the XS-House plans, Small House Book and the DIY Book for only $99! Order now!
