We learned keeping the wheels on may be to your financial advantage depending on your local taxing authority. With wheels, in our Texas county, it is considered personal property and taxed at a much lower rate. It does not matter if the wheels function or their condition. You can enclose base of home with skirting, attach to concrete pillars set in ground etc. and as long as you can look underneath, see axle and wheels, all is good and less expensive for the owner. If wheels are removed or it is sitting on a slab, it is viewed as an improvement to the land and taxed differently (much higher). This was also true for insurance rates with an added layer of complexity based on its usage. Primary, 2nd home, vacation or long-term rental homes have different rates.

I live in a Lusby and I tried to get our school district woodshop classes interested in building something like this (I'm a teacher myself), but had no luck. In fact, the program has been cut at the high school. Foolish. Makes me so happy to see what you're doing! Terrific!
