We are redoing the XS-plans with a 3500 lb axle. Recognizing that the 5000 lb axle trailer must be custom made, you can use this trailer: http://www.bigtextrailers.com/pdf/35ls.pdf
Be sure to have the sides removed. The XS-House materials (not including trailer) weight about 2,400 lbs. We were being over cautious with the beefed up trailer. The 4,000 lb estimate of the XS-House is also an over-estimate.

Hey Jesse,
Have you had any success finding a 7x10 with 5,000 lb axle? I've had the same problem trying to find such a trailer. That's one of the reasons why I haven't gone ahead and bought the XS plans. If you have any leads, please send them my way.
Thanks

I just bought the plans for the XS House. I'm looking for trailers that are 7X10 and its as if they don't exist. I can find plenty of 6X10 trailers? I've looked on craigslist, uncle henry's, lowes site, home depots site, and businesses that sell trailers in my area. Am I missing something? Please help me figure this out or give me some suggestions. Thanks

Another reason for using a double axle is having a functional wheel on one side if a wheel should blow. I was driving a 2-horse trailer on the highway a couple years ago (yes, WITH horses inside) and had one tire blow. We pulled over to inspect the damage, but were able to haul on the shoulder about a mile to the next exit and a park.

Nope. I hauled my house from Canada to Mexico and back again as a load on a flatbed. Just be sure to satay within the width and height restrictions (as all of my plans do).
