Lusby for sale

Lusby for saleJodi in Curtis, WA recently bought the Lusby model. Unfortunately, just before it was delivered to her, she had a change in jobs and had to move to Alaska, where she has housing provided for her. She is no longer able to use the house, and after a lot of internal debate, she has decided to sell it.

The house is brand new, and never been used. This is the only Lusby that’s been built, and it is the “exact” house that’s shown in all the Lusby pictures on our website. Jodi is the seller of the house and the price is $46,997; the same price we charge. Normally, it takes 3 months to build a house, however, you can drive away with this house tomorrow!

About the house

The house is complete and ready to go. It is 120 square feet and weighs about 5,500 lbs (empty). The kitchen contains a sink, under-counter fridge and 2 burner propane stove. The house is equipped with a heater. The bathroom is equiped with a shower, RV toilet and hand sink. The downstairs bedroom was modified as a sitting room, but can easily be converted back to a bedroom. If you have questions on how to do this, Jay will consult for free (after you buy the house – it’s pretty easy to do).

Hookups

The house can be hooked up to a regular RV hose (which is similar to a garden hose but white). This will supply the incoming water. It does not have a storage tank.
The sewer pipe is underneath the house, and is designed to be connected to an RV sewer hose. That’s a flexible hose that drains into a sewer receptacle.
For electricity, the house should be connected to a 20 amp dedicated circuit. If you desire, you can connect it to solar power (at your cost).
There is a hookup for propane gas used for the water heater.

Size

The dimensions are approximately 8 feet wide by 15 feet long not including the deck. The deck is about an additional 2.5 feet. The overall length (including trailer) is approximately 20 feet. The overall width from wheel to wheel is 8.5 feet.

The downstairs bedroom and upstairs loft are designed to fit an RV bed. The ceiling height is approx. 6′4″ and the loft height (at it’s peak) is about 3′8″. The main room has a tall vaulted ceiling. The downstairs room (“bedroom”) is about 6′2″ long and 3′6″ wide.

Payment

Payment will be made directly to the seller. Unfortunately, financing is not available for this house. If you want, you are free to look on your own for financing.

Shipping

Since this house isn’t being sold by us, we may have difficulty helping you find shipping. If you can’t pick up the house yourself, try these ideas:

  • Place an ad on craigslist in your area or on the craigslist near Curtis, WA.
  • Pick it up yourself. Don’t have a truck? Rent one.
  • Find a college kid home for the summer to pick it for you. It would be fun for them.
  • After you buy the house, and you still can’t find a way to ship it, we can put an ad for a driver in our next newsletter, and I’m sure you’ll get at least 20 emails from people willing to ship the house for a reasonable fee.
  • As a last resort, we can ship it for you, however, our rates to ship will be $5 per mile or more. You should see us a solution of last resorts.
  • Other notes

Tumbleweed is not profiting from this transaction, we are only trying to help. Jodi is actually selling at a loss since she already paid for the shipping to Washington. Please do not try to negotiate on the price, there is no room for negotiation. When you purchase the house, you will receive the title.
If you live in the Washington / Oregon area, this is a great opportunity to save money on the shipping cost. Normally, we charge $3000 to ship to Washington.

    Seeing the house

Yes, it is possible to see the house. Please email us, and we’ll forward your email to Jodi. The Lusby is currently at her parent’s house in Curtis, WA, and arrangement can be made to see the house.

I was wondering if you knew of any other people selling tiny houses (either from Tumbleweed or Martin, or whoever–but USED ones. Basically, it would be cool to get something on the cheap, and I know that some people might get a larger house when they get married, have kids, etc. There’s got to be some folks out there that are leaving the ‘tiny house’ movement and are willing to sell to new folks wanting to enter the movement like me!

The materials for the Lusby cost about $20,000 – $22,000. Typically, the materials for these houses cost about 40%.

There is a brief shot of the Fencel plan in one of the videos covered by a news station. It would be great if the Fencel could be placed on the website along with the Z-glass and the others that were removed.

I believe Steve will be posting all of the houses as soon as he finds time. That said, it may be a while yet, as he has some pretty daunting stuff on his plate right now.

Lovely little abodes. Unfortunately, I haven’t a site to put one on. Never-the-less, in one of the messages left on here, it was inquired if anyone had thought of building a little “village” of small shops. If interested, have sent you some pictures of some that have been built for Captains Cove, Bridgeport. CT. Think you may find these interesting.
