I love this article and can appreciate it's honesty so much. I myself have been downsizing these past several years and plan on keep going and living with only what is necessary. I have lived in an 800 sq. ft home and that was more than sufficient for my needs and so I really believe in and get this way of living. Simple is best.

I don't mean to sound silly but is there some hinged part of the roof to get pieces of furniture up into the loft areas or bedrooms, which ever? I cannot see a full sized mattress fitting up the stairs/ladder, or a dresser for that matter.

Hi guys, this is the neatest idea I have seen in a looong time! I've actually dreamt of similar stuff for poorer folk in the inner city (but I'm sure the developers would not allow THAT). Thanks for doing this, this is an incredible idea and I wish you the best. When my wife and I can afford it (many years from now probably), we'll buy or build.

Take care for now,

I love this plan (Sebastarosa) and my husband and I have ordered the book, mainly for the "philosophizing." We are fairly determined to build this particular house in the next five years or so and are currently in search of suitable land to build on. We do have some concerns, however. The first is the modifications. If we were to scribble how we'd like things moved around and sent it to you, would you be able to send us modified plans? The second is about central air. I live in South Texas and it is fairly common to have 90+ degree summer weather well into late fall, so if I were to ask for you to draw up the plans with the central air, would that be possible? And the third speedbump was that we were wondering if the design plan could be drawn up with the third bedroom on the right side of the house rather than the back, and a rear porch added on with french or sliding glass doors? The main thing is that we would like detailed plans showing these modifications as my husband and I would be doing most of the construction ourselves and will need as much guidance as possible from the plans.
