Chance Newingham and his wife, Ginger, first became interested in the Tiny House movement in 2012. The following year they purchased a 20-foot Tumbleweed Linden (stay in the Linden), and they were hooked! Recently they ordered another Tiny House RV to be used as a vacation rental. This time the couple chose a different model and customized the design. Read on to learn more.
Designing a Tumbleweed Vacation Rental
Designing a tiny vacation rental is a challenge. You have to think about your own preferences, as well as the needs of your guests. Below are a few popular choices customers have made when designing a vacation rental.
Popular Tiny Vacation Home Amenities:
- 2+ bedrooms
- Downstairs sleeping option
- RV flush toilet
- Large refrigerator
- Storage options
- Large kitchen sink
- Bathroom sink
- Full-size shower
After much deliberation, Chance and Ginger chose the Roanoke 26 Vista design for their second vacation rental. This contemporary Tumbleweed is large enough to sleep five people, yet tiny enough to be pulled behind a truck. Working closely with Tumbleweed team members, the couple customized the interior layout, appliances, and finishes. The final product features two sleeping lofts and the creature comforts of a regular home.

The kitchen is outfitted with modern cabinets, walnut countertops, a farm sink, induction cooktop, and a 7.4 cu. ft. refrigerator!
A comfortable staircase leads to the main loft and offers storage for small items. The layout features enough space for a downstairs bedroom or murphy bed.
The smaller loft will fit a twin bed and is accessible by a rolling ladder, which tucks away when not in use. The loft works great for a child’s bedroom.
“Tumbleweed has outstanding customer service. The courtesy, respect, helpfulness, and passion shown to me from administrative staff to the president of the company himself, has been superb.” – Chance
The bathroom has a small sink, RV flush toilet, and a full-size shower.
