steve-weissmannSteve Weissmann
Chief Executive Officer

Tumbleweed CEO Steve Weissmann began downsizing his life in 2002. After moving into a super small home of around 400 square feet he learned about tiny houses and eventually saw his first Tumbleweed in 2006. Instantly falling in love with the aesthetic and concept, Steve started volunteering his time with the micro-company. In 2007 he became a partner in the business and took the helm as President & CEO. Steve has the longest tenure of any CEO in this industry and is the visionary who pioneered the first Tiny House RV and the first Green Certified Tiny House RV.

Steve has a bachelors degree in Quantitative Economics & Decision Science from the University of California, San Diego where he graduated cum laude. He lives in Sonoma, California and travels back and forth between the manufacturing plant in Colorado and the company headquarters in Sonoma. His free time is dedicated to doting on his wife and kids, running, playing reckless amounts of fantasy baseball and football, and enjoying wonderful food.

ross-beckRoss Beck
Chief Operating Officer

Ross Beck, Tumbleweed’s Chief Operating Officer, is the consummate innovator. He has built a career on finding new ways to tackle old problems. Ross is an expert on the Tiny House movement, having built and lived in one himself while working at the Solar Living Institute. There he oversaw a $1.5 million non-profit, helping to create a comprehensive solar and sustainable living education program, spearheading an intensive intern program, and leading multiple fund-raising efforts. A great communicator, Ross is often tapped to lecture on sustainability and marketing for small businesses on the cusp of great growth, and serves on several boards which focus on the needs of the community.

Ross honed his expertise and commitment to education as the Director of Public Relations at both Solano and Mendocino Colleges. He served as Marketing Manager at Microphor, an international manufacturer, and he brings his knowledge of the manufacturing process to Tumbleweed. An artist in his own right, Ross has designed and built beautiful living spaces for himself and others, and recognizes the necessity of making tiny homes not just livable, but enjoyable. His aesthetic eye, commitment to the vision of tiny homes and to the people who choose sustainable living make him a much valued asset at Tumbleweed.

david-barnard-bioDavid Barnard
Chief Financial Officer

David Barnard joined the Tumbleweed team in 2016 as Chief Financial Officer, accepting the challenge to grow the Tiny House niche in a tight housing market. He brings 28+ years of experience as an Executive in charge of Finance and Operations, specializing in cutting-edge and rapid-growth industries.

Innovative markets are key in David’s success. Beginning in 1986, he oversaw tremendous growth for The Nature Company, shepherding the opening of over 100 additional stores and propelling sales to $150 million. He next led Design Within Reach to a successful IPO in 2004, built upon sales growth of $155 million in the six years preceding the IPO. David has also managed Cinder Block to more than double previous sales and helped to incubate and launch Epic Sky, a tween-centered clothing and lifestyle company. He helped transform city commutes, using his expertise to help launch Public Bikes.

David’s open-minded approach enables him to take advantage of changes in public perception and navigate the bumpy road of emerging trends. We are excited he is on our management team and guiding Tumbleweed to new levels of success.

David lives in Sonoma CA, and is a proud father of two. He enjoys hiking, tending and propagating succulents, and riding his orange Public Bike.
